She is responsible for authorizing your insurance, helps with billing and is happy to be the one to call you and inform you your glasses/contact are ready for pick-up. If you have any questions or concerns, she is the one to you want to speak to.
Optician/Lab Technician – Tara
Tara fell in love with the Optometry industry when working in an optical shop in San Luis Obispo, CA in 2009. She jokes “had I not been injured on the job, I’m confident I would not have found a profession I truly love and enjoy. Cheer’s to fate, hahaha.” She has worked on both the retail and private practice side as an Optician. Additionally, Tara worked for the VSP Lab in Rancho Cordova. This position provided her a unique perspective on the laboratory side of making prescription lenses. It taught her, in the detail, the optics behind the numerous steps each unique pair of lenses takes to make into the final product of prescription eyewear.
Tara wears many hats as an Optician. Outside of the exam room, she has been trained to do it all. Tara takes pride in her ability to repair a contorted frame. She is well trained in contact lens insertion and removal techniques and maybe the one training you how to wear contact lenses. If she is not helping you with contacts; she may be edging your lenses for a quick turnaround time or maybe on the optical floor explaining your insurance benefits.
