Specialty soft contact lenses for managing myopia progression use unique optical designs, such as dual-focus or center-distance multifocal technology, to slow eye elongation. These optical designs allow the light to pass through the center of contact to the back of the eye to create a clear image, where as the light passing through the peripheral part of the pupil is not focused on the retina (defocus) directly. This peripheral defocus acts as an inhibitor and in return slows down the growth or axial elongation of the eye to reduce myopia from progression.
